This is a high clearance DIY weld-together plate bumper kit for the 5th gen (2019-2022) Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500. This bumper provides full wrap-around protection and a very high-cut design that is focused on maximum rear end clearance and departure angles. By cutting the factory bedsides up to the bottom of the tail gate, this bumper replaces the most vulnerable parts of the truck's bed with low profile plate side wings that can take a beating on the trail. Our optional single and dual swing out carriers provide secure mounts for your oversized spare tire, extra gas and recovery gear (custom swing out attachments available).

When we set out to design this bumper, we wanted to create something that packed as much functionality as possible while still looking great and complementing the lines of the 5th gen (2019+) Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500. The low profile wrap-around design and optional side hoops will take your Ram’s offroad performance to new levels. The sloping rear profile and optional recessed hitch receiver further increase clearance and provide a smooth surface to slide over obstacles. These features make a very noticeable difference during deep ditch crossing and steep obstacle climbs where other aftermarket bumpers with bulky rear profiles will hang up and impede progress on the trail. Simply put, this bumper allows you to forget about departure angle and substantially improves the offroad capability of your Ram.

This bumper bolts to your Ram’s factory hitch receiver mounting points using laser cut 3/8″ thick steel brackets. These 3/8″ brackets go through the shell of the bumper and directly into the recovery lugs that measure over 1″ thick, allowing you to recover your heavy duty Ram from just about any situation with confidence. The optional hitch receiver is recessed into the bumper shell for a clean look and maximum clearance. This hitch receiver ties into the 3/8″ steel mounting brackets using a piece of 1/4″ wall heavy duty square tubing that runs from frame rail to frame rail, giving the hitch receiver and bumper shell excellent foundational strength. Just note that since this is a DIY weld together kit and the welding is out of our hands, we cannot rate this bumper for towing.

The shell of this bumper is constructed from precise laser-cut pieces of 3/16″ steel or 1/4″ aluminum that provides excellent protection from rocks, trees and inattentive motorists while careful design work and the low profile design have resulted in weights of 93lbs and 46lbs for the steel and aluminum versions respectively. The bumper mounts to the vehicle with 6 factory mounting points that the factory hitch receiver normally mounts to.

The optional swing out carriers come in either a single or dual sided configuration and are built to accept a tire up to 37″ in diameter. Both carriers include mounting brackets for a hilift jack and other recovery items. The dual swing out includes the hilift mount as well as a lockable jerry can holder designed to fit two 20L NATO style jerry cans. These carriers feature heavy duty chromoly heim joint hinges, locking 2000lb toggle latches, T-handle spring pins, and a replaceable UHMW catch pad that provides secure, rattle free operation. The heim joints in conjunction with the toggle latch provide tons of adjustability, allowing for easy assembly and guaranteed alignment of the carrier latch. The single swing out add-on weighs 34lbs and the dual swing out add-on with gas can holder weighs 77lbs. Please note that the gas can basket and surrounding attachments shown in the photos on this page were customized by the owner and are slightly different than what will be included with your dual swing out kit.

•Slim profile is engineered to provide maximum departure angles and complement the factory body lines

•Wrap-around side wings maximize protection and ground clearance (Cutting of factory bedsides required)

•Heavy duty 3/8″ mounting brackets with 3/16″ plate steel shell construction for maximum offroad strength and durability

•Optional 1/4″ 5052 aluminum construction for a lightweight yet very durable overlanding setup (47lb weight savings)

•Mounts directly to frame using the 6 factory hitch receiver mounting bolts

•Overbuilt 1.125″ thick clevis mounts allow the use of 3/4″ D-Rings and pull directly off of the frame for confident recoveries of heavily loaded vehicles

•Optional Single and Dual Swing out carriers with spare tire mount, hilift jack mount and locking dual NATO can holder (dual swing out only) (Swing out hinges are different than shown – more pictures coming soon)

•Integrated license plate mount

Note : Optional LED lights include adjustable mounting tabs to mount the lights either on the swing outs or on top of the bumper. Custom light cut outs inside the bumper (such as shown) are available by custom request

As for welding, with everything designed using CAD software and then CNC laser-cut to size, the pieces fit together perfectly and this makes for a very simple assembly process. All kits come with detailed instructions with plenty of clearly labelled diagrams that are made using cutting-edge CAD software. This bumper kit is well within the ability of a novice welder and many customers have purchased it as their very first welding project with great results! This is made possible by the clean parts fit-ups and thick material. These are two factors that make welding significantly easier. Welding is one of those skills that is easier to learn than you may think and once you can do it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Alternatively, many individuals buy the kits and then have a local welder assemble it for them. Even in this case, it typically ends up being less expensive than buying a pre-fabricated bumper – especially after considering the lower shipping costs of our kits vs. fully assembled bumpers.
