2nd Gen Nissan Xterra Rear Bumper Kit

From: $451.07

This is a high clearance DIY weld-together rear bumper kit for the 2nd generation (2005-2015) Nissan Xterra. It features a bolt-on design, recessed 2" hitch receiver, integrated LED pod light mounts (not shown) and heavy duty recovery points that tie directly into the main frame mounts.  It provides excellent protection for the rear of your Xterra and the high clearance design hugs the rear of the vehicle for added ground clearance and departure angle. The low-profile design of this bumper keeps the weight very reasonable, meaning that you can run it with the factory suspension without any noticeable sag or change in performance. However, don't let the slim profile fool you! This bumper has been designed with hard offroad driving in mind and can take a serious beating without skipping a beat.

Description

Compared to a stock bumper with hitch receiver, this bumper significantly increases ground clearance and departure angle by moving the hitch receiver up into the bumper shell and then recessing it for a smooth surface that will easily slide over trail obstacles and steep ditch crossings. This substantially increases the offroad capability of your Xterra. It offers excellent protection from rocks, trees and animal strikes and has been kept to a weight of 65lbs through careful design work. This is especially noteworthy when you consider the fact that the factory hitch receiver, frame crossmember and rear bumper all get removed before installing the Coastal Offroad bumper. This means that even with our steel bumper version, the total weight increase to your vehicle will be negligible at best. This minimizes added stress on your vehicle, maintains precious payload capacity, and allows you to keep your factory suspension if desired.

This bumper kit comes with integrated light buckets sized for surface mount LED pod lights (not shown). These buckets neatly house the lights behind the face of the bumper, protecting the lights and avoiding the unsightly plastic mounting flanges found on typical flush mount lights. In addition, the slotted mounting tabs allow you to adjust the angle of the lights up and down and side to side to optimize the spread of the light beam.

The swing out tire carrier is built to accept a spare tire up to 37″ in diameter. The carrier also includes mounting brackets for a license plate, the factory license plate lights, a hilift jack and other recovery items. The carrier features heavy duty chromoly heim joint hinges, locking 2000lb toggle latch, T-handle spring pin, and a replaceable UHMW catch pad that provides secure, rattle free operation. The heim joints in conjunction with the toggle latch provide tons of adjustability, allowing for easy assembly and guaranteed alignment of the carrier latch. The single swing out add-on weighs 34lbs to the total bumper weight.

•DIY Weld-together kit – This bumper arrives as precision CNC-laser cut and bent pieces that you then weld together (detailed assembly instructions included)

•The entire shell of this bumper is made from a single piece of CNC-bent steel, which greatly reduces the amount of welding and grinding required by you and makes for a cleaner finished product

•Laser cut parts are slotted and tabbed for foolproof fitment. This greatly reduces the amount of assembly, welding, grinding time required by you and makes for a cleaner finished product. The Nitrogen laser cutting technology means no cutting edge oxidation or slag and thus easier and stronger welds

• Slim profile is engineered to provide maximum ground clearance and complement the factory body lines

• Heavy duty 3/16″ plate steel construction for maximum offroad strength and durability

• Optional 1/4″ 5052 aluminum construction for a lightweight yet very durable overlanding setup (38lb weight savings)

•Integrated light buckets provide protected mounting locations for LED pod lights to give additional reverse lighting (not shown)

• Included 2″ hitch receiver is recessed for a clean look and further clearance gains (While the hitch is very well reinforced, we cannot rate it for on-road towing due to the DIY welding nature of this kit)

• Mounts directly to frame using 8 factory mounting points – no drilling required.

• Reinforced 9/16″ thick clevis mounts allow the use of 3/4″ D-Rings and pull directly off of the frame for confident recoveries of heavily loaded vehicles

• Optional Swing out tire carrier with license plate mount and hilift jack/recovery gear brackets

Bumper assembly

As for welding, with everything designed using CAD software and then CNC laser-cut to size, the pieces fit together perfectly and this makes for a very simple assembly process. All kits come with detailed instructions with plenty of clearly labelled diagrams that are made using cutting-edge CAD software. This bumper kit is well within the ability of a novice welder and many customers have purchased it as their very first welding project with great results! This is made possible by the clean parts fit-ups and thick material. These are two factors that make welding significantly easier. Welding is one of those skills that is easier to learn than you may think and once you can do it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Alternatively, many individuals buy the kits and then have a local welder assemble it for them. Even in this case, it typically ends up being less expensive than buying a pre-fabricated bumper – especially after considering the lower shipping costs of our kits vs. fully assembled bumpers.

Bumper weight
