This is a high clearance weld-together winch bumper kit for the 1st gen (1995-2006) Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter. It features a reinforced bolt-on design, protected winch mount, and excellent ground clearance. This bumper allows you to forget about approach angle and substantially improves the offroad capability of your Sprinter. It offers excellent protection from trail obstacles, animal strikes and distracted drivers and has been kept to a weight of 88lbs through careful design work.
Due to the unibody construction of the Sprinter van, there is not a lot to mount a winch bumper capable of pulling the entire weight of the van. So, our engineers came up with an intermediate crossmember that bolts to your Sprinter’s main structural rails approximately 18″ back from the nose of the vehicle. This bumper then mounts to this crossmember plus the front of the Sprinter’s unibody frame using a total of six 1/2″ bolts. This distributes impact and winching forces evenly across your unibody frame. As far as we know, this is by far the most serious winch bumper mounting system available for the first generation Sprinter van and will ensure that you can rely on this bumper when you need it most.
Other notable features include the four integrated LED pod light mounts, optional grill and headlight protection hoops for increased wildlife protection, and optional front hitch receiver to allow a variety of recovery and gear carrying options.
Forget the outrageous lead times of many bumper options that are measured in months. All of our bumper kits ship within 3-10 business days.
As for welding, with everything designed using CAD software and then CNC laser-cut to size, the pieces fit together perfectly and this makes for a very simple assembly process. All kits come with detailed instructions with plenty of clearly labelled diagrams that are made using cutting-edge CAD software. This bumper kit is well within the ability of a novice welder and many customers have purchased it as their very first welding project with great results! This is made possible by the clean parts fit-ups and thick material – two factors that make welding significantly easier. Welding is one of those skills that is easier to learn than you may think and once you can do it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Alternatively, many individuals buy the kits and then have a local welder assemble it for them. Even in this case, it typically ends up being less expensive than buying a pre-fabricated bumper – especially after considering the lower shipping costs of our kits vs. fully assembled bumpers.
